In summer 2016 Paul Eijk and Dirk van Essen ran the last DNA arrays at VUmc Cancer Center Amsterdam. The last arrays were copy number (CGH) arrays, performed for diagnostic purposes to evaluate clonality of secondary tumors. Our shallow copy number sequencing routine procedure, combined with the NIPT workflow oft the clinical genetics department, now allows us to perform clonality testing, in a more cost effective, efficient and timely manner, with the same quality. Hence, with this transition, no more arrays are being processed in our facility!
For research purposes we already transitioned all laboratory procedures to Next generation sequencing in the summer of 2015 for both copy number (DNA) and expression (RNA) analysis.
We celebrate “THE LAST ARRAY” at CCA on October 20th!
